World Wetlands Day

On the 10 February 2001 the members of various conservation clubs in the Jericho and Letlhabile area met to celebrate World Wetlands Day.

Dan Malope, David Ndlovu and Peter Makinita were the organizers and facilitators. Various Honorary Officers of the North West Parks were invited to assist.

	After the classroom stint a walk through the veld to the dam behind the school.

The dam is a tranquil, pleasant spot with the possibility of providing a pleasant area for bird watching relaxation for nature lovers of the Letlabile area.

This outing made the local news that day as the reporter Mr. Motshlwavum from the Letlhabile community radio station broadcasted the event that afternoon and repeated it on Sunday. This raised much interest amongst the local folk and Mr. Gun Tlhagwane, an official from the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Environment, received many phone calls from people seeking information and generally showed interest about environmental and conservation issues.

This type of programme is another aspect of Bushveld Mosaic. Giving support where ever and when ever it is required in order to maintain links with students that have completed the course.
